Rachel pays homage to the sound of the guitar in a number of different ways. She’ll play a centerpiece of the classical guitar repertoire: "Balada Española (Romance)," in a violin arrangement created for Rachel by Jesús Florido, Next, she'll demonstrate how the violin can strum with the old country blues standard Carroll County Blues, in a version by Matt Brown. Then it’s time to ROCK as Rachel plays Paganini's Caprice No. 5, a quintessential caprice beloved by rock guitarists, and also “Thrash,” by Philip Pan, which was composed for Rachel.

Rachel celebrates her musical hero, Maud Powell, America’s first internationally renowned violinist, whose artistry and values continue to inspire Rachel as an artist and a citizen. Rachel will play two of Powell's arrangements, “Deep River,” by Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, and “Nobody Knows the Trouble I See,” by J. Rosamond Johnson, as well as “Caprice on Dixie” by Herman Bellstedt, written for Maud Powell's tours as soloist with the Sousa Band.
